Ok, my internet is again not coming [I'm now connected via dial up]. Called Sky tech support, and guess what - their system is down at the moment!!! So, I have been asked to call after "few" hours! I asked whether they can call me back when their system is up and they said they can't ....!!!!

Re: Help - frequently losing connection

Following the advice here, I have now assigned a static IP to my computer. Last 2 days I did not face any issues [now I am getting connection even with extension cable]. Let's see if I lose connection again.

      Lost connection again

Ok, it looks like Sky devil has again struck me! Last week when I started losing connection again, Sky raised a ticket and did some changes on the exchange/on their end. The problem I was having on connection by typing URL on address bar couldn't get anything, but having typed IP address, the connection did work.

But since yesterday my modem/router stopped working. It constantly shows amber light. I had a row yesterday with Sky support, they put me on hold over 30 mins twice and still couldn't connect me to level 2 support. Today morning at 5'o clock, I was able to get hold of a level2 guy, he informed that there was a MAC assignement issue on their end for which my router can't assign an IP address - so I can't get connection. He said they will try to fix it by next 24 hours.

Re: Help - frequently losing connection

CST is rarely quiet enough to transfer directly into and you should be given the offer of either calling back later, sitting in the queue until you decide you have waited long enough or wait for cst to call you.
There was also an issue on transfers into CST yesterday where the line was disconnecting as soon as it dialed into the queue.

Re: Help - frequently losing connection

Can you take a look and see why I am getting frequent connection dropouts with "LCP is down" error?

Router is plugged into the main socket, there are no extensions, and the computer is wired via ethernet.
