      G.DMT or ADSL2 ?

      Hi all,

Just upgraded to Max, with my line it will probably not make too much difference to the download speed but will to the upload and also the download limit.

Whilst on the phone my wife asked if that will be put onto ADSL 2 (as I believe this will give me the max possible for my line???) the guy said it is dependant on BT updating their technology.

According to Samknows it is already enabled for this and also the ADSL2 checker at the homepage says I may get between 8 and 9 meg with ADSL2.

Link to exchange Samknows Broadband - Craiglockhart (ESCRA) exchange

So will I get better speeds on ADSL2 or G.DMT and should Sky automatically change my line to ADSL2

      Thanks.

      Re: G.DMT or ADSL2 ?

What they mean is it depends on the quality of your line the equipment in the exchange belongs to Sky will support ADSL2+ and G.DMT and is nothing to do with BT, G.DMT is fine up to 8mb, if your line can support above 8mb then you would need to be put on ADSL2+ but if your line is poor then ADSL2+ is likely to be more unstable and you would suffer drop outs. Looking at your line attenuation 41db I think you will stay on G.DMT.

Ok thanks, any idea how long it will take to change? (As in the upgrade to Max to take place)
