      Re: Wrong speed?

If you're syncing at up to 8Mbps then you'll be on g.dmt, over this it'll be ADSL2+. You don't need to get it changed unless your line can actually handle speeds of over 8Mbps, it doesn't make the speed faster, it just facilitates higher speed if the line can handle it.

      If that makes any sense.
"Is your router definately plugged into the master telephone socket, sir?"
"YES! SO WHY CAN'T I DO MY WIRELESS?"
"How far away from the router are you?"
      "I'M IN SPAIN"
      True story.

      Re: Wrong speed?

If your attenuation is in the low thirties, it is probably worth requesting a change to ADSL2+. Several forum members are on 2+, but sync below 8Mbs, but they are the exception. Generally G.DMT is more stable at lower sync speeds. Although other ISPs can and do supply ADSL2+ at any attenuation, Sky normally only put you on this when your line is fairly short.

my attenuation is about 50 and getting about 5mbs, which i think is the norm, so did the sky sales person say it was running at 20mbs to just get the extra fiver outta me? typical

I wouldn't be surprised! If you don't need the unlimited download you should call them, complain about being miss-informed and ask to be downgraded to Mid.

Sky sales have no access to line speeds bar what the dsl checker says at point of sale...CST can see the Max rate of the line (the same as shown in stats) but with an attenuation of 50 the sales guy was talking out of his/her rear end!!

I think 8 Hours a day for 6 months would be about right. The seller may not even have known the difference between Gigabytes and Megabytes. Did you get advised that the call was being recorded, for training and other purposes? If you did, you have a chance of proving you were miss-sold the package and should have no problem being downgraded. Although, to be honest, I have no idea how long these records are kept or if you would have access to them.
