What is the orange wire for?

Don't worry too much about it, Your speedtest result looks o.k for a line with 57db attenuation.
There may be up to six wires attached at the faceplate, but the only ones that matter are the ones connected to 2 5 and 3 you need not bother about the others.
The ring line (the one to 3) can cause problems as it may inject interferance on to your BB signal, which may cause the line to become unstable. Have another go, It just pulls out (pull up away from the faceplate.

      Hey,

Pulled the ring wire out and everything seems to have stayed the same so no harm done just coiled it up and pushed back into socket... every little helps!

My pings seems to be quite high on online games so emailed sky asking about max delay being reduced so will wait and see!

      Cheers
