      Wayhey! Nobody ever seems to go down the ethernet route- that seems a bit silly to me. So thanks for the thanks!

      That was an amazing bit of wiring there flamezmack

      I've seen plenty worse for ADSL though. Actually sorted one "job" where the person had used electrical twin-and-earth to wire the sockets, he was a Sparks and thought the wire would be a good substitute.

      The most important thing to remember with ADSL is that everything telephony must be behind a microfilter, even that little tangle of wiring that you had.

      So to anyone else reading this in decades to come the sequence should be

      Code:
      Master Socket ---> ADSL Filter ---> Telephones, internal wiring and stuff
                               |--------> Sky Router
      It may be that your internal wiring to other sockets in the house is permanently connected to your Master Socket. In which case each and every single socket that has something plugged in must have a Microfilter inserted

      Code:
      Extension Socket ----> ADSL Filter -----> Telephone, Modem, Sky TV box etc..
                                  |-----------> (nothing connected)
      Anything at all that is unfiltered on your line will cause degradation of the service.
      It's not that I'm so smart, it's just that I stay with problems longer.
