      Router overheating (?)

I've had sky broadband and the DG834GT router for over a year now and have only had any real problems recently: Frequent disconnections, low speeds etc.

Having lurked on this [excellent] forum for a couple of days and tried every trick and tweak (reboots, faceplate, static address, TCPoptimizer) I've found that the only thing that works is to unplug the router for ten minutes until it cools down, then plug it back in again.

Does this mean that my router is on it's way out?
      Is this a common problem?
I can't remember the router coming with any feet to stand it sideways
Are they something you have to get from netgear or sky?

yep the router DOES come with 2 white feet to be able to stand it vertically so that it doesn't overheat.

You can make DIY legs/base with a square plastic milk bottle, cut the top off, cut a slot in the bottom to fit the router and slide the router into the slot. Remember to empty the milk out of course
