is your bt line underground or in the air on pylons? Dont think there's gonna be much you can do about that really as it would involve BT re-wiring a neighbourhood!!!!!

If your dropwire from the house to the pole also goes through trees or the lid of the the distribution box on the pole is missing this can affect the quality of the line.

The next time you are having problems try to report the problem to BT who can check the problem there and then.

I see the same, my line goes from the house to the pole through a tree canopy.

Last year the council chopped down another tree near to our house and took out all the phone lines that were running though the canopy as they didn't see them (D'oh). BT charged them a load of dosh for rewiring.

Also rain/electrical storms really affect the signal on the line as well.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

      Re: Weather Affecting Connection?

If your line goes through a tree canopy then it may be getting hit by the tree branches etc but yes weather, equipment exposure to elements, condition of equipment, external forces/ impact on line etc can all impact service. Next time the weather is bad and your line is suffering call BT and tell them you have an intermittant line noise issue that only occurs in bad weather (don't mention adsl). Also you may want to look at maybe getting the tree pruned by a pro to keep the line clear of possible issues.
