In the last few days, my download speed has dropped dramatically to below 512kbps.
and this is the amount Kilobytes you are downloading per sec.
      when I download a file.
You know, when you "Save Target As"
Not the download speed. You would need a 65Mbit connection to see 8000 Kbps when you download a file. With an 8000kbps download speed the maximum you would get would be about 970 Kbs per second.

Why not do a speed test and show us what you get?

I think you have probably miss-typed it and meant 1400 kbps.

To repeat Rich, are your wired or wireless? If you are wired, turn off the Wireless access point and see what happens. While you are in the router settings, have a look at the Attached Devices and see if there is anything there that shouldn't be. You might be sharing with someone.

The fact that you are connecting with the exchange at a high speed almost certainly means there is a problem with the PC or the connections to it. Have you received any updates recently, especially for your network card. You could also try running TCPOptimiser again, just to be sure none of your settings has changed.

There is a chance that the router has a problem, but this difficult to check with the new routers, if you do not have another one to try.

Using the wireless function...will try wired and get back to you.

      Attached devices...only me (thank god!)

If the wired test comes back negative...will give TCPoptimiser a run.

Can't use another router, the one using now is the new Sagem and password / username cannot be gotten at....if i'm right in what i've read recently.

Re: Max Download Speed Dramatic Decrease!!

      Right The results are:-

Did the wired test...no exceptional increase in speed.

Tried TCPoptimiser, settings had not been changed from previous time.

Did Skyuser speed test again after restarting, roughly the same speed as before.

No updates installed that I can think of, especially none for network card.

      *sigh*

      Got it!

Just a quick question....Default Network Key, does that mean the key that come with the router when first turned on, or the one i'm using now with it?

The default key is the one that is printed on the router and card. If you have changed it, it is obviously not the default. (There I go, being arrogant again)
