Well. I looked at my older downstairs socket and it had no test socket behind it. My upstairs one does, and that's what I have plugged my internet into. However, my television and phone are on the separate downstairs one. So it just my internet on the one upstairs.

when you have the router plugged into the test socket upstairs, does the phone plugged in dowstairs still work (there should be no dial tone)

sorry about this, could you re-boot your router (turn off, then back on) and post some more stats from the test socket.
you can see from the first and second set of stats that your downstream & upstream are both much better (will mean you are going to have to look into your wiring, there is a cabling and faceplate section on this site which is very usefull), i just want to check your router stats again as they seem to have a lot of errors from the test socket

Re: Constant DC's after every hour or so

I have restarted my computer, internet, router etc.

Is it the wiring that would create the errors, or is it computer side errors?

      Hope this helps!

Re: Constant DC's after every hour or so

Not much difference between the 2 sets.

One thing I would say is that it looks to me like you may be on a line that is being or has been regraded. With your attenuation you would normally be on G.DMT, but you are on ADSL2, which seems to indicate a regrade. I have read comments that this can take some days to settle, I rather doubt it myself, but it may be correct. If it works as it should, your line should give you the best speed possible at any given time, this would account for the drop in sync speed.

From your Profile you seem uncertain what package you are on, you can check this by going to your MySky page, logging in, click you account details, then view details for Broadband. I would say you are definitely on Max, for which you will be paying £10 a month.

Well, I've had sky for 6 months now, should it take that long to settle? I don't really know much, 'cause my mum pays for the bill (I'm only 16) She said it was £10 a month, so I guess it must be max. I don't get it though? My speeds are horrible, and it frequently says that there is a problem with my 'DNS' (in Vista) and I just don't understand if it's the computer, wiring, or just sky. I commonly blame the wiring, but I don't really know. I usually get 250kb max, but today I got 400kb for some reason. Is that what I should be expecting? 250 or 400?

And forgive me if I seem a little naíve I don't really know what I'm doing without indication

Re: Constant DC's after every hour or so

I was referring to a recent development with regards regrading, it would not matter how long you have had it, if you are on an LLU line, which you are, it will come to you or has already come.

You can read about it in THIS thread.

      Thank you for your help

So all I need do is wait and it'll all be ok? Sounds simple enough

Can I really trust Sky to contact my parents to tell me they have upgraded, or are coming to upgrade my line? Or is it on there side? The post is a little ambiguous :P
