      Thats not very nice, the forum is here for the benefit of all the members. Would you complain if what has been posted answered your question ?
      From the email response from Sky it now looks like you have a choice to make, do you want a few more k on your download speed or do you want the reduced ping that they have given you ?
      Unfortunately you cant have both.

      Yep, dholdi.

      I sent a reply asking for the download sync to be increased.

      So you now no longer want to maintain the " strong pings " you refered to in your first post

      I have to agree with rage, although he might have worded it a bit more politely. Hijacking threads leads to confusion and is in itself, impolite.

      @Rage99
      Also, i have tried the test socket but it made no difference because i assume my speed's limited
      It will make no difference to your sync speed but it will to your noise margin. If you are using a very long telephone extension it will definitely impact on your noise, this causes errors, which is why you have been capped. Take your basic stats from your normal position and from the Test socket and post them. It is pointless going to Sky until you have made an improvement on your line.

      You're better off being on the phone talking to CST, Tier 1 take the emails, and they're almost useless really. On the phone to CST is the way he/she can do the changes on the phone, you use speedtest.net while on the phone and log into your router for the stats to see the changes right there and then to see if you're happy with them.

      You can't really get the best of everything with the distance you are from the exchange.

      Internal wiring makes a difference though, so look into that also... cause believe me when i say i must have had 'Cowboys" when they installed our BT lines years ago, it was a total mess.

      I do run an extension upstairs though, and i get the exact same stats from the extension and the test socket...

      blame BT - if they'd pulled their finger out sooner we'd all have better connections...

      as for attenuation, what do you mean 'in this day and age'? it can't be helped...

      I don't think that is strictly fair. BT are a business, there to make a profit. Why should they invest billions upgrading their phone lines to fibre, then be forced to lease the lines to ISPs who would make the profit. The only way the phone system will be upgraded is if the Government foots the bill and you and I know that is not likely to happen. Sorry for going OT.

      true but then they could offer better connections too, and tbh if i could get a service that's fast from the company that owns the line id take it...

      Well they are upgrading their exchanges to 21C, which I think means they are catching up with the ISPs who have LLUd exchanges.
