      Switching from connect

I got a letter on Friday informing me that Sky moved me from Connect to their own equipment on Tuesday. We knew something had happened as we lost the connection and had problems getting it back and staying, and I noticed the downstream was much higher.

However, 5 days on and it's still not stable, we're still getting disconnected a few times a day, with the downstream speed being up and down. I don't think our line can support high speeds anyway, Orange had to cap it when they unbundled us.

Basically, I'd like to know how many days it normally takes for things to become stable and how long I should leave it before asking Sky to cap it, if it doesn't settle down.

post your stats and confirm where you have the router plugged into (do a set of stats from the "Test" socket, see first link in my sig)

Very much when you are on skys equipment, your speed is not capped down to your best speeds until you have a chat with them, as when you are on there equipment nothing is done until someone physically changes the speed, etc..

Give them a call they can check various things like your max rate etc. Post your stats and let us have a look.

      Re: Switching from connect

Once you are switched onto sky's own equiptment they usually give around two weeks settle time as this is the period where all the system informtion on the line will be confirmed. This is due to system lag between sky's system, penfold and BT Wholesales/Openreach systems.
As advised if it hasn't settled withing the two weeks and your still concerned call the technial number who can perform the relevant tests on the line.

      Regards

      Craig
