Unhappy Advice and help needed with subscription

      Hi,
I am a new user and unsure if this is the right place to post this. But here goes:

I am a student living in a student house with which the rent runs out at the end of June and i won't be living here next year. We all took a sky contract out for 12months back in October. Also, about 2 weeks after starting the contract we upgraded our internet from 8mb to 16mb. The sky package we have is 6 variety mixes and normal phone. (we also took out a BT line rental for 12 months).

I would like some advice about whether it is possible to cancel this contract early. If it is, how could i go about doing this? Also, would my upgrading to 16mb have started a new 12month contract? Failing all this, could i downgrade all my packages within the 12 month contract to pay a lower fee each month?

      Hope someone can help.

yep the upgrade i think would have started a new 12mth, but its only 2 weeks either way.

No problem with cancelling before the 12mths.... you just have to pay the remainder of your contract as an early exit penalty.

You can certainly downgrade your skytv to the minimum package, but the BB T&Cs dont allow a downgrade within the contract period.

Sky will try and not cancel the contract early as it could cause complications in the future so what they could do is

      1. Lower your TV package
      2. Get a Moving Homes (allows eng to come and reinstall in new property)
      3. They stop your BB (They have to wait until the BB gets cleared off your account before adding again under new address, 5 days to cancel and clear, 10 - 12 days to reactivate)
      4. Once getting reactiveated (you have to call the Moving Homes department, ask for a lower package if thats what you want, otherwise they will put it back to the Max package)

It is possibly to get a free moving homes offer if you explain you have no choice but to move

      regards

      P
