      upstream speed and VNC

From searching these forums it seems that base/mid packages have a limit of around 384kbps for upstream speeds and 768kbps for max. Based on the offerings from other ISP's such as O2 and Be, who claim to provide a maximum of 1.3mbps, that seems quite slow these days. My question is simply whether anyone knows why upstream speeds are capped at these levels and whether there's any indication that Sky will increase them in the near future?

I've recently set my home computer up as a VNC server so that I can access it wherever I am, but the slow upstream makes the connection painfully slow.

      Re: upstream speed and VNC

I'm not sure but i think Sky are setting 384 up for new MID/BASE/ customers?

      If i'm right its

      -BASE -MID ~ 384/416 upstream

      -MAX ~ 784

I reckon sky will keep these speed restrictions for these packages as there has been no indication of Sky changing them. 1.3MB upstream is quite fast but TBH unless you upload alot i dont see the point. Sky's max packages upstream speed is very quick. My upstream of 416 does the job for me. Online gaming, upload pictures movies etc.

      Re: upstream speed and VNC

I connect from work and my upstream is 416, there is no issue what so ever.
