      Fed up with Sky BB

Internet started to slow down last night. By slowing down I mean browsing. Some pages dont even load.

I was connected at 16.3mb and now its at

      Modem Status Connected
      DownStream Connection Speed 9983 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 764 kbps

      My stats are

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9983 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 17.5 db 9.1 db
Noise Margin 15.9 db 17.0 db

The technical people are trying to blame Norton although its the same across my entire network.

      Any ideas?

ask to be put threw to customer resolution team how on earth can they blame physical router stats on norton lol why do they even bother saying these sort of things its obvious someone has either capped your speeds or your noise margins have been set to high , with a Line Attenuation 17.5 you should get 16.3 mbit max speeds have you added any extensions to your main bt socket ? try plugging the telephone cable into the bt master socket test socket this is behind the master socket face plate see what results u get then if they dont change then its definately something to do with a line capping and by the looks of it , its an error that sky can sort out if you get threw to customer resolution team
good luck and let us know the outcome

I am using the master socket and nothing has changed at all. Nothing software or hardware. The guy said he tried to cap me to 14mb but it refused and synced at 9.8mb

For some reason its running fine now and Norton is working fine to.

You should really have given it a few days before you contact Sky about a slow down. Capping is their No1 action and once it is on, it is sometimes difficult to get off. When you get a sudden slow down, it could be because BT are working on or near your line, either on the line itself or in the exchange. Boot your router frequently and look for a rise in your noise margin, if you see a rise, phone and ask for your cap to be lifted.
