      Hi

Can you give us some more info? What's a CiD popup?

Are you saying the Police keep asking for information?

These ads popup with the following url

      CiD:http//adserver5.???????????

It usually say's Customer iDentification brought to you by internet explorer at the top of the page.

Its only since I've had Sky BB put in that these have appeared thats why I wondered if they were Sky only adaware.

      Thanks

      Hi

      Thanks for clarifying

It would appear you have Spyware and is coincidental it has only happened since you have been connected on Sky.

      Re: CiD pop-ups

CiD is one of the worst infections you can get. It is installed by some Messenger add ons and can sometimes be removed using the Add/Remove Programs. Click on Start> Control Panel> Add/Remove. Once list has been filled look for Messenger Plus Live & Sponsor CiD or something very similar. Click to uninstall program. It will then come up with a choice of what you want to do, I would advise getting rid of everything connected with it. Download and run Ccleaner it will help remove bits left over.

If this does not get rid of it, or it does not appear in the Add/Remove, removing it is a long and quite complicated process as it has put roots in many parts of your system. I would advise saving all your data, music videos etc to removable media format the disk and reinstall Windows. This actually quicker than trying to remove it manually and you are sure it is gone.

I have to emphasize this has nothing to do with Sky, it is the programs already mentioned, or possibly something else you have installed that has infected you.

      Re: CiD pop-ups

its because u install messenger plus and agreed to sponsor!

      heres what i recommend

uninstall like isitme said and use winxp manager you can get this with a keygen from URL Removed and they should do the trick!

because it defrags ur registry and should get rid of the registry entries that cid has left behind!!

very annoying i know ive done same b4!!

admin: Removed URL, thanks for the help, but we do not link to Red Sites.

Be warned, the site above is Red Flagged by Site Adviser and could give you more grief and anything that needs a keygen is pirated software. Use it at your peril.

      Re: CiD pop-ups

i remember almost getting caught with this when i was running XP and wanted messenger plus - it looks like a normal licensing agree/disagree page but is actually asking to install other software...VERY dodgy if you don't pay attention...

personally, I'd reformat Windows but it is time consuming - especially remembering all your settings!!...

      Re: CiD pop-ups

I have just got rid of this annoying pop up on a friend’s computer. And it was the sponsors addon with messenger plus this is indeed a nasty piece of work

If you go to add and remove programs in control panel look for ” messenger plus 3 plus sponsors” click delete a small windows pops up asking you to enter a code which will appear after a few seconds enter the code and remove all and it should get rid of it...

      l
I also installed SUPERAntiSpyware which is a free download and works wonders for getting rid of rubbish....

      SUPERAntiSpyware.com - AntiAdware, AntiSpyware, AntiMalware!

disclaimer:- it worked for me but may not work for you make a back up first....
