      Sky Broadband Problems

      Hi there,

Been having connection drop-outs every now and again for the last 6+ months but in the last week it's been every evening on and off and on and off so no online gaming can be done and watching videos over the internet is impossible.

I have phoned Sky numerous times and it's never really got better at all.

After the last phone call though it did get better and I have only had one dropout.

After doing a speed test I found that I was only getting 3500kbs! I was getting a solid 1MB's in the evening and ear;y morning I could easily get the full 1.6MB's.

My stats as they are atm are:

Status: Showtime Channel: INTR, Upstream rate = 512 Kbps, Downstream rate = 412
      8 Kbps

Am I getting this slow speed because I'm capped?

It looks like to me that I have been taken off ADSL2 and put back on G.DMT and then had that capped as well!

I think that the problem could have been faulty wiring in the house so I have installed a new phone line today along with a filter that is installed on to the front of the master socket.

Surely I can get the full 16Mb again?

      Thanks very much, Doug.

This looks a fair summary of the situation, and capped quite heavily indeed! You should be able to get 16Mbps with your attenuation and a clean line so if you have sorted the internal wiring then a call or email to Sky would be in order.

      Re: Sky Broadband Problems

Thanks very much for your feedback!

Got on the phone to them and have been put back to the MAX package as I had been put on the base package because of the errors.

After the new internal line has been put in and the new faceplate it all seems better at the fast speeds.
