The 10 day training does not apply to Mid, she is mistaken. Like you thought, it is only on Connect.

Newsreader is correct. There is no 10 day training in period for base mid or max....yet!!!

However, there is a new system in the works that will allow the lines to sync at the best speed possible for the line. Think of it as an automatic auto regrade, except it actually works properly and doesn't set your line to some ridiculous number.

Re: sky told me today that there is defiantly a 10 day traing for mid

The best thing to do, would be to check at BT's ADSL Availability website:

BT Wholesale : ADSL Availibility Checker

(Select the link labelled 'ADSL Availability Checker' at the bottom of the page).

They can provide an estimate which is pretty accurate most of the time. My line only operates at 3.5MB and it has done for a long time (back in the days of DSL Max launching). If the BT website says that 3.5MB or around 3MB is your lot, then I wouldn't hope for your line to speed up. Possible changes in the next year or so, with 21CN Broadband Connect - may change things (but only slightly).

I do not think you can downgrade to Sky MID, if you can't receive over 8MB from MAX. If not, pleade with Sky - they might.

      Hope you get it sorted.

The best thing to do, would be to check at BT's ADSL Availability website:
Bt cannot estimate the line speed if you are on Mid, it's Sky's network.

We have a rough speed estimator here, if you know your attenuation.

      SkyUser - ADSL2 Line Speed Checker - upto 24mb
