First off I am not young, second off I don't need help. if you where to blind enough to read my other post. You will have found out that I do not pay the phone bills my parents do. So I am unable to just take the face plate from the Master Socket. I need to ask permission. And they will just say no anyway.

I can not be bothered with this stuff. With AOL I was on 8mb per second, and I was getting exactly 8mb. even with wifi.

Why not just tell your parents you need to test?

It won't damage or interfere (apart from the phone being disconnected for a few mins) and may eliminate your wiring.

Worse case scenario, do it when they are out.

Re: Email I got from Sky regarding slow speed

Is that from the test socket?

If so, then you should get approx

      ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 9mb to 10mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.

This is a rough guide only, and provides results of up to 24mb with the data made available to us. This is purely for indication only and should not be classed as the Speed that you will receive on any ISP's product. Due to the fact that your Telephone Line does not run in a straight line from the Exchange, the Distance from Exchange figures, are interpreted as if your Telephone Line is that exact length. In reality, it is highly unlikely that this is the case.
      SkyUser - ADSL2 Line Speed Checker - upto 24mb

In which case, I would hazard a guess and say you have an internal wiring issue.

You maybe best PMing Saturday and asking for his advice, I am fairly sure you should get faster than what you are with that attenuation.

Put it this way my attenuation is approx 45 and I get just under 7mb.

Exactly, although it is entirely a guestimate, it is estimated from actual data archived from historic entries and so is within a reasonable assumption.

Something is not right, your connection is slower than mine, yet you have better stats. It has to be a wiring issue, I bet.
