      Is Download.com Broken?

Just a quick question because when i download something from Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com it downloads at ridiculous speeds at about 18.3 kB/sec but when i download something off Microsoft Corporation it downloads at about 450 kB/sec normal speed.

Or another thought is that it is just busy?

      Re: Is Download.com Broken?

The data will only flow at the rate of the slowest part of the path from your PC to the server you're accessing. Microsoft are staggeringly rich and can afford to have superb levels of connectivity across the world. Others may not be able to pay for the kind of bandwidth that they'd need to be able to maintain high download speeds 24 hours a day. It's just a fact of life.

I don't think this is anything to do with your broadband connection, if that's what you're worried about…
