'Upgraded' from Connect to Mid - connection now dropping

Last week I was 'upgraded' from Connect to MId (should have been Max but there we go!).

Before this my connection was fab - never dropped and always between 6 and 8MB.

Since my connection keeps dropping. I have to keep rebooting the router and rebooting my PC to get it back. Speeds are Ok while connected but it drops so often it is painful.

Is this a coincidence? Can anything be done?

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it.

      Thanks.

Has your firmware been upgraded yet? The new firmware is now available, this may fix your problem. If you have not, get your detailed stats. follow the link below and post them

Incidentally, from your upload figure it appears you are on Max. Unless Sky have made a mistake and set it wrong, which would be surprising

I don't know anything about the firmware sorry!

SKy are supposed to be changing me to Max about now - I'd assumed I wasn't on it yet as my download speed is the same as before so I won't be impressed if I am on Max - twice the price for same speed? Hmm...

Here are the detailed stats that app gives me:

Re: 'Upgraded' from Connect to Mid - connection now dropping

That is the original firmware, you would do well to upgrade to the new firware as it is a lot more stable.

See here if you wish to do the upgrade yourself.

If not it will eventually happen automatically. As for your speed, with your attenuation your connection speed is about right. If you don't need the higher upload or the "limited only by FUP" capacity then you would be better off on mid.

Re: 'Upgraded' from Connect to Mid - connection now dropping

I don't need to worry about uploads or FUP, but I was hoping for faster download speed

Is there any way to increase this, or to change the attenuation so I get the speed I'm paying for?

Re: 'Upgraded' from Connect to Mid - connection now dropping

7000kbps is pretty good for your attenuation, you are unlikely to get much better. You should ask Sky to down grade you to Mid, although they are not to keen on doing this within the 12 month contract period, for someone with a download above the Sky average. It is always worth a try

Edit - I meant to add, the only way to change your attenuation, is to move closer to the telephone exchange.

2nd Edit - I'm very forgetful this morning. The stats you posted look OK, but 3 mins is not log enough to give a true reflection, what do they look like now?

Re: 'Upgraded' from Connect to Mid - connection now dropping

Doh, thanks for the reply. Shouldn't Sky know this stuff? What is the point in them upgrading me from Mid to Max if I can't possibly get any better download speeds? None of that was mentioned when I spoke to them about upgrading.

Will call them and ask them to change it back to Mid
