Just a Quick Dell Laptop Question

Right i have 2 dell laptops in the house and on the router i have it on g & b. But when both laptops are on the same time they break the internet. I looked at the wireless adapter properties and on both laptops i found that the IBSS Mode was on 802.11b Only and there was an option where it said 802.11g/b Auto shall i put it on the 802.11g/b Auto option to stop them from breaking the internet?

Re: Just a Quick Dell Laptop Question

Sorry for making multiple threads and i have fixed this problem as i went to dell.co.uk and downloaded a Driver update for the wireless adapter in the laptop and the importaunce on the update was urgent so i think this has fixed the problem.

Re: Just a Quick Dell Laptop Question

It's not unknown for one wifi adaptor set to 802.11b to force all the connections on the network to adopt the lower speed, even if they are 802.11g cards. So select the 'b/g auto' option and let the adaptors sort it out themselves! If reception is really bad they will reduce the connection speed to one they can handle reliably.
