      Re: who to blame

With a Line Attenuation of 63.5 it would apear that you are much further than 2 Miles from the exchange... of course it could be that although the exchange is 2 Miles away that the cable goes a LOT further to get to you.

Have you tried the master socket to see if its any better?

      Re: who to blame

What have Sky actually said? You have quite a high noise margin for your attenuation, so it looks like you may be capped. Your attenuation puts you out on the limit for broadband as that attenuation figure is about as high as the router will read, it could actually be a bit higher. Unless you have a real need for an unlimited download, you should ask to be placed on Mid as you are paying 5 a month for nothing.

      Re: who to blame

      Hi

Yes i tried the test Socket was still the same

Waited 83 mins to speak to a nice guy from Sky they have managed to get my Downstream to about 1300KBPS and he has capped my upstream to 410KBPS.

Your prob correct think i will phone them back tell them to reduce my monthly takes for ever to download movies really strange thing is my neighbour is with sky and gets more than double the Downstream i am getting.

Isitme i live in Alloa not that far from you

I did Notice a few houses up a BT van in a drive way think the guy lives there am getting tempted to chap his door lol.

      Re: who to blame

Well if can look at it he can tell you what is wrong, if you are still getting rubbish speeds on the test socket then the issue is probably line side.

If you can get him to have a look at your line it might be worth the price of a couple of pints.

The problem with the Alloa exchange is that it is down near the river, not very central, so to get a decent speed you would have to live on the bottom side of the town. If you are out by Tullibody or Sauchie you have little chance.
