      Checked....it's dead silent in there.

Your stats with and without the internal wiring are not noteworthy far off from eachother to be significant. Nice quiet line, that is a good sign also.

But you're still wide off the mark with the practical speed test - did you say it was done over your wireless link? Are you able to use a cable between PC and Router just to compare?

If i'm paying for 16mb, and my exchange can handle ADSL2+...I want what i'm paying for.

So whose fault is it then?

Yep, done that test already...see previous post (can't remember what one!)

Results were not completely different from each other again.

You are syncing at over 8000kbps, that means you should be downloading much faster. Sky cannot be blamed for that. It is the connection between your PC and the router that is causing the problem.

You have a healthy NM and should be able to get ADSL2+, you will have to phone Sky and ask them to put you on it, but that does not mean your actual download speed is going to increase by much.

Nope, my connection between my router and PC is fine, even the wired tests shower no significant change in download speed to my PC...did you not read my posts?

My signal is excellent and my router is only 4 foot away from my PC across the room

If I ordered MAX and got MAX, then why didn't SKY put me on ADSL2+ at first then?

Ergo, Sky's mistake and fault to be put on lol.

Distance from exchange is so near, on ADSL2+...I should be getting close to 16mb for sure!

in truth there is some problem, at the moment you are synced at 8meg (as said by others) but your download speeds are not even 4meg (should be around 7 on the mode you are on)

Re: My stats after 1 day on Max...what do peeps think?

That is the first problem that has to be sorted out, richone54 is 100% right. Otherwise the chances are that you get put on ADSL2+ and still do not get better than 4meg. There is no reason to suppose that ~16Meg ADSL2+ will give you any better than the 4meg you're currently getting from your router which is in any event sync'ing up with the Sky DSLAM at 8Meg. Something is seriously amiss betwixt PC and Router......

Question - do you know enough about configuring your network port to ensure that you are sync'ing between PC and Router at 100Mbps full duplex? It may be that you are only connecting at 10Mbps half duplex - still much faster than 4meg but could be a contributory factor. It is in the network port properties in XP - I don't know for sure where Vista has tucked it away, I avoid Vista like the plague .... in fact .... it is a plague!

In Vista the settings are automatic and are 100Mbps full duplex
