      NM Frustration

Well got the new firmware version V1.03.87 but when reaches about 7:00pm it goes down to about 3db it doesn't effect the internet but my xbox tends to lagg a bit. Is there anything to stop this dropping? And as it is new firmware i would have thought this would have been fixed. Really frustrating.

The new firmware cant alter the fact that your noise margin drops, what it can and is supposed to do is make the router more tolerant of the drop and less likely to disconnect because of it.

I think you may have missed the point i was trying to make, if your nm drops to that sort of level its got nothing to do with the router, its firmware or life as we know it. Its more likely to be a problem with your internal wiring or your line properties in general. Some router stats would enable a more informed opinion to be given.

I didnt say they shouldn't go that low, I said as long as your connection isnt disconnecting or becoming unstable, I wouldnt worry about it. Only when your connection is unstable does a low noise margin become a problem.

Try rebooting the router at 7:00pm. I don't have the latest firmware so can't say for sure but you may find that the router will now have "adapted" to the sort of line condition that occurs at that time. If you find that's true then don't reboot again so that it holds at that setting.
