HELP UNSURE what to do with my sky router!!!

Hi i have been a sky broadband customer for about 6 months now and my router never works properly. I have the DG834GT router and at first it worked properly but over time, the performance has deteriotated.

I have constant cutouts (every 10 mins) and drop in connections (normally have to reboot the router 1-2 times a day). This normally happens when downloading at full speed of around 600kb/s or even just streaming youtube videos!

      Thats not right is it??

I dont know what to do? shall i ring sky or is there some kind of fix for this problem??

      Thanks in advance

Is this on ethernet or wireless? Are you plugged onto an extension or main socket? How many sockets in your property, how many are in use and can you post your router stats please?

      Hi Jazzyp.
6080 with a line attenuation of 35db is nothing to write home about so do this.

      (1) Do you have a NTE-5 master socket? If you do then remove the faceplate to expose the test socket. Now check that all your extension telephone sockets are dead, there should only be a dial tone at the test socket.

      (2) Post your stats when connected to the test socket.

If you do not have a NTE-5 master there is still somethings you can do, but have a look first.

Your drop outs a prob to do with your wireless connection. Have you tried a cable connection to your router?

      Hi Jazzyp.
Attenuation is a measure of how much your line effects the broadband signal (put simply). With your attenuation you should get a sync speed of around 8Mbs

Brian, I think you meant 8Mbs

jazzyp, I think what people are trying to tell you is there is probably nothing wrong with your router and that the problems are with your home wiring.
