      SKy connect is using BT ADSLmax technology whereas Sky broadband uses their own hardware.

      Basically until Easynet put their own kit in your exchange you can only have BT kit to get connected to if you get what i mean.

      Welcome to the site Gary

      Sky Connect is Sky Broadband but instead of using Easynet LLU hardware it uses BT's ISP Stream MAX Adsl hardware so you will only get 8MB until they can move you to LLU witch is 16MB.

      Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

      Is it worth having or is it just a ploy from sky to get 17 rather than the cheaper sky broadband

      If the 17 is cheaper than you are paying now, then definitely :-)

      Its not a ploy ISP Stream is a lot more expensive to buy from BT hence the costs one you are on Sky's LLU you get it cheaper as the costs are a lot less.

      Its all Sky Broadband they just have 2 suppliers there own Easynet and BT to enable them to offer there connections to all there customers.

      @NewsreadeR

      Yep I did forget to say up to 8 & 16MB sorry boss

      If you do decide to go with 'Connect', you'll be moved over to the 'Mid' package when it becomes available on your exchange.

      Hi Gary,
      I am in the middle of a migration from Pipex, and at this point my local Exchange is not LLU either. With Pipex I was paying 23.99 for 2MB cabled, whereas when Sky BB Connect is activated I will be paying 17.99 for up to 8MB [although I can only get 4.5MB]. My exchange is due for LLU in January so I will be migrated from Connect to the free package then, so for me its definitely worth it. Don't forget you will need to pay 40 activation fee upfront to Sky and possibly another 20 or so for a wireless USB adapter if using a desktop.

      Cheers

      G

      I tend to agree the 40 activation fee aside once your exchange is LLUed you will be moved you have to do nothing unless you want to be put on the Max product after they move you that is, so no more hassles.
