Cool 1st Day of SKY Max....my stats are low...

Here's the fresh stats for my Sky Max which switched on at noon.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8160 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 15 db 4 db
Noise Margin 12 db 12 db

As you can see that's good noise margin.
But for my attenuation I should be getting much more.

And of course I'm getting 6.5 megs average on speeds tests.

Is there a chance I'm on GDMT? You can see I've got a V2 router so no detailed stats?

Should I try TCP Optimizer and Mognuts?

It looks like you have been capped and are probably on G.DMT.

If so, neither TCPOptimizer or Mognuts can change that - only Sky.

If your downstream attenuation of 15db is correct and your line is relatively noise free, you should easily get 16meg uncapped and on ADSL2+.

      Well I rang SKY.

They say although my B'Band went on at noon.....they are still sending through a test signal...not my full b'band. As I'm still within that 3 days from your activation date thingy. More than likely my speeds will improve into the early hours of tomorrow.

If my speeds (for example) dont rise from 8160kbps downstream then I should ring back I was told.
They will continue on from the previous notes already made and then further on request a ticket.

So fingers crossed. If not CST then.

What they mean is it may take 3 days to activate your line. once it's on, and you are LLU, it's full speed.

Re: 1st Day of SKY Max....my stats are low...

      Well I did play dumb.

Told Tier one about slow connection.
Trying to prompt a ticket for CST.

She tinkered with a few things.
But YES...I did have a gut feeling she was giving me a dollop of cow poop. If she thought she was rectifying the problem...then she cant really. CST can. And she wasnt playing along. Pleasant enough though.

You're right it cant take the 3 days for it to 'improve' as I am so blatantly already on a full broadband. 8megs is not what i'd call a test signal broadband. 288kbps probably is.

I'm going to go out tomorrow night.
Wake a fresh on saturday...and ring SKY again. Play EVEN DUMBER and see if that tactic gets me a CST ticket.

I'm also off to get a cross-head screwdriver to run a test through my master socket and see if Ring wire is attatched....never had the chance before.

It'll allow me to be more assured when calling SKY...that the master is NOT the problem.

My noise margin is still quite high. So I dont see a noisy line being the problem. Nor the distance from my exchange "15db" downstream.

I doubt if my line would NOT be able to hold ADSL 2+ 16meg....or be unstable.
Seeing as I've got the new Netgear V2 router I cant check if I'm truely on GDMT...like i feel I am.

AFAIK 768 upload shows that you are on GDMT

      (edit: 764 for ADSL2+,)
