Question Hotmail blocking my IP?

Hello,

This has just started since moving over to SKY last week?

I send emails to a list of people who want my local reports on local wildlife with sometimes small images attached, never had a problem until changing to SKY. I send from my own domain and get this.

Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. A block has been
placed against your IP address because we have received complaints
concerning mail coming from that IP address. If you are not an
email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider
for help. Email/network admins, we recommend enrolling in our Junk E-Mail
Reporting Program (JMRP), a free program intended to help senders remove
unwanted recipients from their e-mail list: MSN Postmaster (in
reply to MAIL FROM command)
I cannot email these addresses any more!
Is this normal for SKY IP's to be banned?

ADDED: Looked at Hotmails sending policy and see they will not accept mail from IP with no reverse dns, on dns stuff it says I do no thave one, do i need one, and if so were do I get one?

Re: Hotmail blocking my IP?

If you send from your @sky.com email address you should not have the problem as the reverse DNS check should pass.

Never used it, as I said I use my own domain and have used it fine for 9 months with Entanet and Plusnet!

Can the problem be with my hosting company?

h**p://openrbl.org
I get Host-Name: WARNING: Reverse-DNS missing

Re: Hotmail blocking my IP?

Yep issue is with the hosting and not with sky, contact your host and complain.

Re: Hotmail blocking my IP?

Thanks for that, I have now routed the email through Gmail and changed MX records, hopefully that will sort it out.

Thanks for your help

Re: Hotmail blocking my IP?

Plus the monkeys down at Microsoft don't seem to understand how the internet works.

They still haven't updated their GEOIP file in ages (the file that contains IP addresses of all the ISP's in the world) and when I still try and buy a film off the Xbox marketplace I still get a "you don't live in the UK" error message.

I have no idea how frequently they update it but it doesn't seem to be very often.
