does this mean you are using an extention or that your router is plugged into the master socket ?

either way, post a set of stats from your set up now, then do a sets of comparison stats from the test socket (behind the face plate of the master socket, see first link in my sig)

      Re: Connection dropping

i think either your adsl faceplate is one of the really old ones that BT used to fit, or you have some dodgy wiring on the faceplate

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6656 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 33.0 db 21.5 db
Noise Margin 5.9 db 14.0 db
the above are your first stats, note the connection speed and noise margin (both low)

now your results from the test socket
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 384 kbps
Line Attenuation 33.0 db 21.5 db
Noise Margin 11.5 db 13.0 db
you are now connected at the maximum for your package (with is mid and not connect as per your profile)and you have a healthy noise margin which is what i would have expected with your attenuation

have a look for an ADSLnation faceplate (about 12) and all your troubles will be far away (last line taken from a song, but cannot remember the name)

P.S i wish all posts were as easy to go through as this one

      Re: Connection dropping

^^Thanks Dave - Thought you might know

@Lewie, could you post a pic of the socket with wires, i do not like to advise on wirirng and there are others on here who may be able to help with the wirirng
(and the latest stats show lower connection and noise margin, which does indicate some of the wires may not be needed
