      connection dropping when phone rings

      Hi everyone
Recently i have been getting this problem, when the phone rings the internet connection either drops or you can hear the sounds of the modem.
My guess at this it could be the filters ? if thats the case then i dont think i can change them.
When i first got adsl years back i went with bt an engineer came out and installed an adsl box.
So if it is the filters i dont think i can change them or can i ? if not is their anything i can do about it ?
      many thanks

take the front of the BT box and you should have a test socket behind, plug phone and router into sky supplied filter then into test socket

Hi thanks for the reply i cant do that because like i say bt installed it and i guess its some sort of spliter box.
It has two sockets one for adsl one for the phone, i did try removing the face plate anyway but it does not have a test socket.

Its abit like this but older

How strange, i'm not that up with older style boxes
as you can see from the pics you found (which is what i thought you may have) there is a socket on the back that plugs into the box on the wall, if your face plate does not have this it must be wired somehow, there will be other on the forum hopefully later (not sure when) who can advise on the best course of action

      sorry i could not help

NP thanks for trying, the difference with mine is its not the plug in type its a fixed face plate.
It gets annoying when the phone rings and the connect drops or you can hardly hear the person on the phone.

just checking, the filter box you have is the first one where your line enters (the first box you come to from the BT line in ?)

      Hi Bulldog.
Well a faceplate you describe was not fitted by BT. Do you have any extension sockets? If not then undo the screws on the faceplate and you should see just two wires attached to it. If you have extensions then you will need to idnetify which wires they are and dissconect them.
Have a look at the back of the faceplate and post back with what you see.

      Hi Bulldog.
Yes I know, I uesd to install DSl and never fitted a fixed filter plate that you describe. They were all faceplate filters fitted to NTE-5 master sockets as in your first pic.
Anyway, The best way forward would be to remove the faceplate, and fit an extension socket as a temp measure. You could then fit a filter to that to see if the fault clears.
