Yes I know, I uesd to install DSl and never fitted a fixed filter plate that you describe. They were all faceplate filters fitted to NTE-5 master sockets as in your first pic.
Anyway, The best way forward would be to remove the faceplate, and fit an extension socket as a temp measure. You could then fit a filter to that to see if the fault clears.
thanks for the reply i'm not sure about puting another box on i'm not that confident about the wiring tbh.
When my daughter get home i will get her to take some pics and post them up cheers for your help.

PS do you think bt would replace it as its their equitment ?

thats the test socket , use one of the supplied filters by sky then plug the router and phone in.
you can then test to see if you still disconnect when a call comes in and go from there

      Hi Bulldog.
O.k Yes the socket you have exposed is the test socket and that is where you plug in the other filter.
I have never known a v1 faceplate filter to give trouble, other than through physical damage, so I will be supprised if it is at fault, but there is always a first time

ADSL Nation - XTE-2005 - Filtered Master Faceplate

      @ Brian
Were the old V1 faceplates not designed for the old 'highspeed' 512kbps connections and may not be so efficient with the present speeds?
