      What a joke...laugh if you wish!!!!! sky+BT

So I have my line rental and broadband with sky, Monday morning cam, and in all the wind my main phone line to my house snapped, resulting in no phone or broadband. I phone sky (on someone elses phone of course). Said they will deal with it. Yesterday (wed) a BT guy turned up at nexts door, i intercepted him and told him the problem was in our garden, that the cable has snapped. He said he had just a job for next door. He got on phone then to someone else then who said yes he gotta do my job aswell, makes sense as next doors line is connected to mine. To cut a long story short BT put up new cable and said line is great quality, while he was mincing around outside I tested broadband, but it didn't work, no signal what so ever. I told him, he said it should come back on in a bit, I thought this was a little strange but hey. I phoned sky two times in the afternooon, they went through all the normal rubbish they try to get you to do..... said they will try and sort it within 48hours...It wasn't until my next door neighbour turned up on my doorstep saying she was getting all our calls!!!! The dumb engineer has wired up our houses back to front, next door having our number and our house having their number!!!! How can a simple job end up such a disaster!! I have been using the phone, obviously calling people, which has actually cost my neighbour!!! I phone sky told emm and they said they will try to get it sorted in 48hrs....thats also why my broadband is'nt working....Im more worried about the privacy aspect, you people ever heard of this being done before.

Erm yes and to be honest there is little Sky can do but tell BT to get their engineer back there to put the wires back properly. The engineer has basically mixed your pair up with the neighbours so you are getting their line and they your line.

Just means he was sloppy and should have checked both lines were active and going to the correct phones. A quick dial test would have confirmed that if he had called each line to see what phones rang.

Sad to say but the exact thing happend to me recently, BT for some inexplicable reason wired my phone to a woman half a mile away, fortuntly both sky and i saw the funy side . However when i called BT they assured me "that could never happen". 24 hours later an embarrased Bt engineer admitted that was indeed what had happened

I do wonder if BT engineers aren't perhaps a little less thorough when dealing with people who aren't BT customers…

By what the OP reports, it looks like the next door neighbour was with BT. Probably just as well or he may still have been waiting.

You should be phoning BT as they are they alone are the ones that can fix this. Also make sure that you don't get billed for each others calls when you are on the phone to them.

If your line rental is with sky then phone sky cause you are skys customer and sky are bt customer and if bt do come out and it has been you that got them out they will bill you but if sky calls them out then sky will br billed for it.

There's been a few cases in our area of scumbags nicking the underground BT cables for the copper out in the the villages. One village had 2000 phones cut off it took BT 3 weeks to sort it out and in doing so 300 to 400 people got connected to the wrong lines, one women was getting all the calls for the doctors surgery Eventually all got sorted out only for the cable to get nicked again a month later!
