      Re: sky broadbands disconnecting

I'm having a very similar problem. I first got Sky broadband a month or so ago and it worked fine. Over the past few weeks, however, my BB keeps disconnecting for no reason: I will be surfing and then a page will not load. When this happens the test let on my router will either go off, flash amber or stay on amber. After a few minutes it will sort itself out.

This is really annoying as it keeps happening about once every 10 minutes (it's gradually gotten worse).

PS, I'm using wireless broadband if it helps.

could you post some router stats
and confirm whare you plug the router in (extention / master socket / test socket)

Edit: also i would think you will either ahve the V2 Netgear of the Sagem F@st (not the V1 white netgear as per your profile) could you confirm and change your profile as applicable

I don't plug into the master socket, I plug into an extra one located in the living room. The reason for this being that if I don't my PC won't pick up a wireless signal. Sorry, I don't know how to post router stats, could you tell me?

Finally, you are right about my router. I have changed my profile!

chances are that the extention has decided to give in - you need to try in your master to rule it out...

      Re: sky broadbands disconnecting

NOTE: All the instructions assume that your router IP address is still the default of 192.168.0.1 and that the user name / password for the web admin login is admin / sky.

      Simple Stats

These can be obtained from the router very simply, but the information that they give is limited.
Log into the web admin by pointing your web browser at the router (192.168.0.1)
Enter the user name and password to go in.
The main page shows some useful information such as connection speed.
Click on the "Show Statistics" button slightly for more detailed information such as SNR.

      Re: sky broadbands disconnecting

as suggested above, it would seem your extention is your problem (only way to confirm would be a comparison set of stats from the "test" socket)
see first link in my sig
