      Question LLU migrate downtime?

      Hello,

Just got my username for Sky account wotzit.

      I read this
Your order is progressing fine, but we've had a huge response to Sky Broadband, so you may need to wait up to three working days from your estimated activation date before you can start surfing with Sky Broadband. The estimated date is: 14/03/2008
Does this mean I may have no internet for 3 days? I hope not as this was not made clear at signup

      Re: LLU migrate downtime?

If you migrate with a MAC, in theory there should only be a few minutes downtime, however things do not always go smoothly, so Sky build in a cushion for themselves by saying it may take 3 days. In most cases, with LLU, the change-over is done on the specified day.

      Hello,

Just when they say they have had a huge response it looks as though there may be downtime which was not expected, I upload data 24/7 so this would be very unwelcome

      Thanks for the reply.

don't complain to Sky as a constant upload would suggest a server of some sort and they'll just say 'Sky is a consumer service, etc'...and you'll get no sympathy

      Hello,

Its just a hobby, sending shipping data, not life or death, just a pain if it goes down

      Thanks for the advice

      Re: LLU migrate downtime?

wasnt suggesting anything sinister its just that not many people upload a lot (mostly downloading) so they'd maybe assume something like a server...and yes it can be a pain but unless something goes drastically goes wrong you should no issues...

      Re: LLU migrate downtime?

      Hello,

All is good, just found their [Sky] wording a bit worrying ;-)
Hopefully all will be well, coming from a very reliable ISP maybe makes it worse ;-)

      cheers
