New user to Sky broadband with a WIFI question please.

      Hi all

I have received the modem this morning not yet got enough nerve to install it. Thought I would ask a couple of questions please.

When I track my order for broadband I note this message

There appears to be a problem with your order, please call Sky Customer Services on 08705 515 515.

However, there is a later notice that the order has been shipped as of yesterday and indeed it arrived this morning.

Because the modem has been sent do I still have to telephone (which I hate to do) or would that be because the MAC code was latish? Anyone had a similar message?

Also I have had a wireless router connected to the laptop that I will be using for the Sky modem although I no longer use it, I am on dial up broadband modem at the moment, the system still has the previous WIFI modem information and each time I start up the laptop I get a message that says

Wireless Network Connection is not connected

      Wireless network unavailable.

I just click this and it goes away. I do not want to have problems when I install the new router and would value any help, should I uninstall the previous WIFI software?

      Any help is always appreciated.

      regards

I don't think you should need to. What will happen is that when you connect up the Sky router, your wireless card will find it, instead of saying no network available. You then fill in the security key and you away.

I'm sorry I meant to say in my previous post that you should phone Sky just to be sure. There have been occasions in the past when a user has received the router only to find there were problems in provisioning the line and delays have occurred.

Different department unfortunately, you will have to ring twice.

      Oh yes, I expected that

They said I had no need to 'phone, the message was because the broadband order was being scheduled behind the Talk order

Broadband will be activated middle of next week, there is a letter on its way. Which prompts another question which I will post later.

      Cheers.
