Very slow and unreliable on Mid... Help Please

      Hello All,

I'm posting here as my other half's family's broadband with Sky Mid is extremely slow. They did initially set up for Max Package but was getting a speed averaging 2meg maximum when they should be up to 8meg. I've done everything I can think of, have re connected the router with a brand new filter, still no change in speed... I understand the exchange (Crawley,W/Sussex) is on a Sky LLU. I'll post some statistics below, I just wonder if anyone here can give me some ideas? Does anyone think that we have a faulty router, these results are the same as over both wired into the router and over wireless as well (I know it should make no difference, but its one of the silly questions Sky would ask).. Any suggestions I'd be appreciative of...

I don't think there is anything wrong with your router. Your problem is that your phone line is too long to give you a better speed. There is no way you will get anything near 8mb with an attenuation of 59dbs. Your connection speed is very near the maximum you can hope to receive. I'm afraid the only way you will get a much faster connection is to move to a house closer to the exchange or to Cable. I know this is not what you want to hear, sorry

Thanks for letting me know Isitme..

Seems like Cable is gonna be the only option. I tried everything I could to get the connection faster, ie remove extensions and run directly off the master socket. I just wasnt sure what I was checking for to see if I would get anything better.

At least I can give the other half's Dad an explanation of what the problem is, but tbh, for a fiver a month, what they're getting seems pretty good.

      Thanks for your help.
