Wireless disconnects when attempting to DL anything.

      Hi, i have a problem!

We have a SageM router and use 2 PC's here, both using netgear USB adaptors and running XPsp2.

PC 1 runs perfectly, the wireless connection hasn't dropped once in weeks.

PC 2 runs perfectly also, until I attempt to DL anything of any size. I can browse the internet, run irc, even play online games - but as soon as i start up any kind of sizey DL (bittorrents, http dl's, game patch dl's etc) the wireless connection on this PC gets disconnected.

The disconnect only happens on this PC (PC2), the wireless router and other PC maintain green lights all the time. To repair the problem i have to unplug/reattach the USB adaptor on this PC and the wireless connection kicks back in again.

I have tried all the obvious things, switching the USB adaptors over, resetting router, having PC1 turned off, but the problem still remains.

The disconnect usually happens immediately but sometimes i get 30secs-1min of DL'ing before it cuts off.

      Any ideas?

if you've not tried yet - turn off UPnP off on the router and give it a go...

other than that im not sure as it sounds pretty much PC-specific so dont call Sky...what security is each PC running?

As for the torrents, make sure you limit the upload, it could be choking on the data.

Just tried the UPnP thing, still have same problem. What do you mean by security? Ive disabled firewalls etc while trying to sort this problem out.

Newsreader - I have tried that also but torrents still cause disconnects..

      Ta for replies though =)

security suite...there a known 'flaw' in McAfee privacy service which stops connections randomly but removing it seems to cure the issue...its not a firewall component
