Is your Sky TV box plugged into the phone system? You have to use a microfilter for that too. If there is still noise on your line that you can hear when you make a phone call, then you'll have to call BT out again. Annoying as it is that the problem went away when the BT engineer stepped over your threshold and started again when he left, the problem won't go away until BT fix it.

Also, if you had a new socket put in, it probably should be one of the NTE5 master sockets. The lower part of the faceplate actually comes off, all you need to do is unscrew the two screws that hold the lower half in place. Behind that part of the faceplate is a test socket - you should try plugging your router into that (using a microfilter, but with nothing plugged into the phone side of the microfilter), and see what kind of results you get with that.

I would say you have a fault on your phone line. Probably a bad joint or bare wire somewhere. I think that is the only thing that would account for your varying attenuation ie

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5120 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.0 db 15.0 db
Noise Margin 17.5 db 13.0 db

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4832 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.0 db 18.0 db
Noise Margin 11.8 db 13.0 db

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1376 kbps 352 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 8.0 db
The strange thing is the higher your sync, the better the noise margin, you would normally expect the reverse to be true Over to the real experts

This is a line problem, are you sure there is no noise on the line when using the phone? any crackle? if there is then call BT and get this sorted. If not then it's a long haul to get Sky to pass this to BT.
There are some checks you can do yourself.
      (1) If you feel brave have a look at your master and check that the connections to A and B are secure (if you have an old master it's 2and 5 ). Also check any joint boxes between the master and the incoming line.

If you have an external joint box, have a look inside. It may contain normal connections or jelly filled crimps. A squirt of WD-40 does no harm at all.
