Sky digibox phone line causes slow speeds

Hey, ive been having slow download speeds with sky max broadband. My typical downstream speed is about 990kbps. The Line Attenuation and Noise Margin suggest i should have higher speeds than this.

Currently the router is in my bedroom. I tried it downstairs in the main phone line, and tried changing the microfilters, however, it then fell to about 760kbps. Moving it back into my bedroom got it back up to 990kbps.

In my bedroom i also have sky tv, and the digibox and router are both connected into the phone line by a 2 in 1 adapter. I noticed, that if i unplugged the digibox line, and had just the router in, my downstream speed instantly increased to about 3400kbps.

This leaves me with a problem though, as the contract with sky tv means i must have my digibox connected to a telephone line at all times, and when i plug the digibox back into the phone line, the downstream speed goes straight back to its original 990kbps.

I cannot unplug the digibox from the phone line or else sky will fine me, however, as far as i can tell, this is the only thing causing my low downstream speeds. Does anybody know why this is so, and how to slove it?

      Thanks guys!

Have you got a filter fitted before your Sky box?

Plug the filter into the socket first, then plug the digibox extension into the filter. The digibox must be filtered, in fact I read of another user who used two filters for the digibox, with success. I don't know why, one should be sufficent.

Plug the digibox into the filter then the phone into the back of the sky digibox.
