Your stats are not just "right", they're brilliant - good enough to get 24meg if Sky offered it

Speedtest result is fine for your sync.

Sadly, (for you and a few others), I don't think it's planned.

      Re: Sky Max Stats

Hi, im a new to Sky BB and not long been activated on Max package and thought I'd post in here seeing as its sort of relates and i couldnt find anything about this problem

      Here are my connection stats:
Connection Speed 16379 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 13 db 2.5 db
Noise Margin 14 db 16 db

and from what ive seen from others this is good stats am i right ??
Yet my downloads dont reflect this, the highest ive seen one of my downloads at the start was at about 10mbs for about 2 seconds then all of a sudden it just jumps down in decreasing gaps down to 1-1.5mbs and it does this on any of my downloads or either just starts on 1-1.5mbs and doesnt change.

is this normal or is there somthing wrong??

Something wrong. Are you connected wirelessly? How is your download speed wired?

Nope not connected wirlessly, download speeds start off fast and then just gradually decrease untill it gets to 1-2mbs, and speed test's just give random results or just stop working in the middle of the test.

is there anything that can cause this?

      * would the router being on a 10m Ethernet cable to my computer be anything?

      Re: Sky Max Stats

There are a number of possible reasons for that happening:

      • a very low spec PC unable to write the data fast enough (is it?)
      • a network adapter fault (you could try reloading the drivers)
      • a TCP/IP setting fault (see the second sticky in my signature)
      • catastrophic levels of line errors (only Sky can investigate this - however plug into your test socket and if the behaviour stops then that would be indicative. Doubtful though with your excellent stats)
      • a heavily overloaded speedtest server (does this happen on all servers?)

99% of the time the symptoms you describe are wireless related. Unfortunately it looks like you're in the 1% so diagnosis may be difficult

There's no problem having a 10m ethernet cable. Anything under 100m is absolutely fine.
