      sky rang with password today

      as stated they rang today said get a pen an paper heres your sagem router user an password info but we will not offer support on any other router except theres i said im bright enuff to plug theres back in if i had probs just gotta sort me download speed on max getting 1/2 a meg lol

      although i ad sorted it i wasnt gunna leave it so after calls an emails wrote two A4 letters to them stating a few facts that the equipment they sent was not doing the job i needed also stating if they sent better equipment i would use it i also mentioned that i didnt expect there technical support for my equipment and lots of other facts was suprised but happy they seen sense that i would have left there service if they didnt help an to be fair i got max service and only getting 512 downloads but there on the case got it upto 2 meg today and there still on it so slightly happier now but still dont think i should have had all this grief thanks james for all your help regards AL

      cant see them losing there job i wrote to head office an my sky bill is near 80 a month an as i told them ntl or bt will do the job for me oh got my speed upto 4.5 meg so happy days lol

      As far as I understand, not even a Team Leader / Manager is allowed to sanction this request. So they are likely to get their backsides kicked royally.

      I may be missing something here, but I cannot understand why Sky are so prickely about this password issue.
      (1) AFAIK all other ISP's release this information and will let you use your own kit but will not support it
      (2) the sky v1 netgear is a poor performer, and so is the BT Home Hub, So why do Sky make a rod for their own back. If you don't like the Netgear, get your own router as BT uses can with the Home Hub.
      I just think that sky have not throught this through. With loads of their routers now on Ebay and everbody screming for a new one, they have made themselves a problem.
