      Why does it mysteriously disconnect

      One for the SKY crew here I think. Why does the broadband drop out for no apparent reason, the longest ive managed so far is 46 hours and looking round the forum i see this is a common thing. Is it just SKYs way of making sure we dont get the same ip for too long or is it just the teething troubles of a young isp with a very large user base?

      Why is SKY so against us having static ips?

      With the V1 router its usually because the noise margin drops below @6. Not sure about the V2 tho which is supposedly more tolerant of nm. In most cases tho with the V1 the poor nm is down to internal wiring not being up to scratch. You could check the following out and see if it improves things for you.
