Thumbs down Broadband mid painfully slow

Hi all, I have very recently been connected to sky broadband Mid and am experiencing very slow download speeds. According to speedtest.net, i get on average 128kbps download, which obviously is nowhere near the 8MB that i could be getting. What's strange is that my upload is a lot faster, around 300kbps. Any idea what i can do to solve this? Also, BT have said that my estimated activation date is Monday 11th, so could it be that they are still doing some work on it even though i have it connected now? Any help would be greatly appreciated and if i need to post any information could you please tell me what and where to find it. Thank you in advance.

It looks like your line may still be testing, you will have to wait for the activation date you were given by Sky plus 3 days, before anything can be done.

Ahh, OK, ill wait it out and post back here if the problem still persists. I just assumed that if its connected, then its connected. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

EDIT: Another question, if they are still working on my connection, does it matter if i am using it. ie: will they still be able to get it done if i am using the line.

OK, so it's now Thursday evening and still no change in the speed of my internet. Currently i'm getting about 17kB/s down and about 40kB/s up. Any ideas on what to do now?

      Re: Broadband mid painfully slow

do you plug the router into the master socket or an extention ?

you could also try a comparison from your test socket (see first link in my sig) and post the new stats back here

No, it must be an extension as it does not have the split faceplate.
