      128kbps - please help!

      Hi,

      My SKY broadband behaves more like dial-up. I'm awaiting a call back from SKY technical support but based on the calls i've had with them so far I'm not confident they are going to resolve the issue. if anyone on this forum has any ideas on why my connection is so poor or how to improve it i'd much appreciate it.

      My stats from the router page are:

      DownStream Connection Speed 128 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 128 kbps
      Line Attenuation 21.0 db 13.0 db
      Noise Margin 32.9 db 13.0 db

      I'm on SKY BASE.

      you're on test speed - no doubt you had a fault a while back and they sent you a new router?

      if so, your line is meant to be put back to default but very few agents do...

      Hi IAmNotTheEnemy, thanks for your reply.

      I've had faults with connection dropping before - SKY couldn't resolve it but it seemed to get better by itself (!)...but then my connection speed got much worse. I haven't been sent a new router though.

      Do you know how I can get myself off "test speed"? I'm not sure what this is or why i would be on it. Will SKY have to resolve this for me?

      when there are connection issues/no sync at all it'll be put on test speed to try and get get sync...in your case it sorted itself out but no one has put the speed back up. give em a bell and get to CST and they'll sort you out...
