You're on Connect and its another jobby where BT have put the wrong product on your line - get onto CST and they'll put through a regrade...

however, DON'T say BT have put the wrong product on your line - tier 1 will prob not know what you're on about...just be patient and get to CST

      Re: Stupidly poor connection...

      cheers for the help guys!

after speaking to a few neighbours (only moved into this house recently) they've said that over recent weeks/months their connections have got slower and slower, and BT *claim* that it's going to improve soon, so I think it's a contention issue, since this street is mostly 200+ year old cottages, the lines must be poor quality, or maybe something to do with the switchbox for the street (whilst having a fairly vast knowledge of ADSL, I know nothing about the other facotrs involved in telecommunications ) but I have to say, I don't like Sky's methods, hard coded usernames, only using their routers etc. I used to be on Pipex at the old house, and whilst they WERE brilliant when I signed up, it got worse and worse and worse, and now their highest price plan is still capped for 40/month... looks like even the ADSL in this country is going to pot

edit: I'll call them tomorrow, since that's my proper activation date lol

you're not on Mid - so change your profile - and regardless of activation date it won't change. BT have you on the wrong dsl product so you need to try and get a cst agent who knows this has been happening and they can get it off to BT to regrade the line to adsl Max which it should be on...

i swear BT have it in for Sky...

Don't worry There is panic about the poor take up of BT Vision, BT Retail/Broadband are worried that Sky will get enough users and launch their version before Vision has had time to get going. They are hanging on to bandwidth for all it's worth. God help us when SystemX goes and the phone network relies on it. Still I will be retired by then

Have a read through This thread which concerns your position and follow the instructions in post # 33 to do a speed test. This will confirm whether you are on Connect or not.
