Poor pings and speedtest results after outage

My Internet went down last night around 11-00pm. I phoned tech support up and they said that they could not connect to my router so thought there was an outage a my Exchange (Stourbridge)

I tried the normal reboots etc but nothing so i wen to bed. I came home from work tonight to find out it was back on. I did a cold reboot to make sure it was all working correctly. I now run speedtest and getting far less that was yesterday. I was getting pings of around 70 and download speed of 7mb on average over the last 3 months since i have had it. I now get pings of 110 and download speeds of 4mb ( the uploads have gone pear shaped as well)

Should i wait for it to settle again for 7 days or should i phone up tech support?

There shouldn't be any settlement period as you are on MID.

Re: Poor pings and speedtest results after outage

My internet went down on Monday night too so I'm assuming it was an exchange issue (Stourbridge)

My pings, dload speed are still the same though.

They seem to have corrected themselves now.

Scuba, do you play online gaming at all?

Also what type of router do you have?

Re: Poor pings and speedtest results after outage

      I am a COD4 Xbox player.

What sort of pings do yo have? I average around the high 70's which i spoor. It does affect the gaming for me. I was on Cable before in Stourbridge and never had any probles witha ping of around 24

Re: Poor pings and speedtest results after outage

PC based gaming for me mate.

Pings were poor but are now great.
BBC - bbc.co.uk homepage - Home of the BBC on the Internet in 20ms,
Jolt.co.uk - Online Gaming - Clan Server Rental in 18ms.

I have had my max delays reduced and they did some other fiddling too apparently. Ping around low twenties to CSS servers and a bit higher for COD4.

Have you had your max delays reduced? If you haven't then you should!
