      Re: Sky Block rapidshare.com?

I was told by rapidshare yesterday that my IP address was blacklisted and that they can't remove it.

Since then the speeds have been very slow and yes I am a premium user.

Tried rebooting the router, even left it off for a few hours.
But the IP remains the same.

I thought that if you switched it off for 10 seconds it should assign a different ip, at least it used to when I was with BT.

Normally rebooting the router does get you another IP but it all depends on the amount assigned at your exchange.

Have you asked why it has been blacklisted and is it just your address or the Sky 'block'? If you are paying to be a premium user I would think they owe you an explanation.

You are usually guaranteed a new address is you use the button to run the Sky Test. This will not help if the block is blacklisted.

      Re: Sky Block rapidshare.com?

I have this intermitent problem and drives me up the wall. I've found a way around this and by replacing the rapidshare.com with the ip address seems to work ....

      ie: link is normally

      replace with

Doesn't explain the problem - but seems to fix it for me !

      Re: Sky Block rapidshare.com?

It worked ok for me for a while, then all of a sudden I started to get all sorts of problems happening and there was no way that I could download any files.

so thanks very much for the information, using the ip address is working great for me.

It does make you wonder why they appears to be so many people affected with this problem though

      Re: Sky Block rapidshare.com?

Wow great thread, and I thought it was just me. I'd figured out the ssl bit myself, but its obviously a pain to keep editing links.

Following lee_s's solution of using the IP address of 80.239.151.250; I've come up with an easy and permanant solution.

Using a text editor load this file

      c:\windows\system\drivers\etc\hosts

      just add these lines...

      80.239.151.250 rapidshare.com
      80.239.151.250 www.rapidshare.com

then save the file, and job done! (you then may have to restart your browser or PC).

Basically the windows xp hosts file overrides any DNS lookups.

      BTW if you see:

      127.0.0.1 nastysite com
      127.0.0.1 spamspam com

Don't be alarmed, anti virus software adds stuff to this file to block nastys sites. And redirect them safely to a null address.

I thought I'd follow up myself.

From Sky rapidshare.com normally resolves as 195.122.131.15

      I've traced the route....
