Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Cease / Provide
Might sound a silly question,
Can the provide be done before the cease ?
Reason I ask is that I believed my line was activated by Sky on 15/9/06
But I just had a call from them (i tried to cancel) telling me that it is due to be done 6/10/06
My old ISP is not giving me the service so who is ?

Doesn't sound too good for me either! I'm also in Basingstoke and my activation date was supposed to be 20th Sept. Was told there would be a six hour delay, then a 7 working day BT backlog, now they just stick me on hold forever... Wouldn't have been so bad but I was disconnected from my prev. ISP (Orange) and like many others have no Broadband at all except at work.
Has anyone got any proper response to the situation with the Basingstoke exchange?

I spoke to BTW on Saturday, and they said there is a Hazard in the Basingstoke exchange and there it wont be resolved for 3 weeks. Sky told me 4!

Did they give you any idea of the Hazard ???
Did sky also know about a hazard ??
Are sky playing Safe by taking BTs 3 weeks and adding on Skys margin of error of 1 week ?

To be honest I believe BTW over Sky.
The guy at BTW took some time to look up the issue, he also checked the state of my order for me.
Sky give me a different story every time, my order has ranged from being processed in the next hour (2 weeks ago) to being 4 weeks. I just dont think the Sky employees have the visibility of whats going on. This leads to the situation of being given info you want to hear rather that what is the actual truth.
The only people who really know are the provisioning team, and these are the ones who could really help. Its a shame we cant talk to them directly.
And one piece of advice nutter, dont cancel. I did on Friday and have been told it will take 14 days for the order to be cleared off my line. Then I can go with someone else!

More good information about Basingstoke exchange there guys, like I said in that other thread BT refused to talk to me about it
Spoke to Sky a few hours ago and they said they'd get someone from provisioning to call me back and let me know what was going on. Fingers crossed something can be done, if I have to wait another 3 weeks for BT to bother to do anything I'll be less than impressed!
