      Curious about Broadband Speed

      Hi All,

Have been on Sky broadband for just over a week now and am fairly happy with it.

On Sky Connect with Sagem router (managed to get VPN working).

I have read several posts and threads about the router stats and I still don't understand enough to know if the speed I am getting is good or bad!!!

Various speed tests show downstream at about 3900 and upstream at about 310

      here are my router stats.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5088 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 37.0 db 18.5 db
Noise Margin 11.6 db 19.0 db

Could anyone tell me if I should be trying to improve anything? Using 'SamKnows' website, i figure I am about 2 km from the local exchange.

Any information on this would be very much appreciated.

      Thanks.

      Re: Curious about Broadband Speed

As you have only been connected for just over a week, your line is still training. Unfortunately Sky give no advice whatsoever to Connect customers on how to train their line. I feel this often results in a line training to a much lower speed than it should.

Have a look at this from Plusnet it may give you an idea of what you should have been doing.
