First thing to check is that your new laptop has a fixed (or reserved) IP and that the rules are pointing to it. If that's fine then check your firewall(s).

      Re: Port forwarding troubles

I was referring to your LAN IP address i.e. make sure you've remembered to ensure that your new laptop has the same IP address that is set in the portforwarding rules. Also, don't forget if you're using something like Macafee then that has a firewall (as well as the windows one).

Actually I've just had a thought: were you using portforwarding for your old laptop or using UPnP?

      Re: Port forwarding troubles

Sorry, can't help then. If your portforwarding rules are pointing correctly (right IP and right ports set in the router and laptop - worth double checking?) and you have no firewall in the way then maybe it's a Vista thing? Don't use it myself (and don't intend to) so I've no knowledge of what barriers it might put in the way but from comments I've seen it can be quite perverse in its "security features".

      Re: Port forwarding troubles

As you've been a member a while I assume you have a white V1 Netgear?

This post might help (ignore the address reservation if you've already given your laptop a fixed IP).
